Underlay rolls from complete room-length strips

Compare roll orders for two laying directions instead of assuming all purchased area can be used.

One rectangular room; swap length and width to compare directions.
Measure the actual boundary; count irregular zones separately.
Both ends together; follow the actual system detail.
Net covered width, excluding any non-covering foil flap.
Use the actual length; this model does not join short pieces end-to-end.
Explicit reserve for damage; not a hidden area percentage.

Interpretation:The cutting plan needs 2 rolls. Swap room length and width to compare directions permitted by the product.

One rectangular room, full-width stock and complete lengthwise strips without end joints. No reuse of side offcuts, roll defects or overlapping load-bearing underlay layers. The surplus includes spare strips, edge trimming and roll remnants and is not all reusable. Foil-flap and tape requirements depend on the product. Confirm floor/underlay compatibility, moisture checks and installation direction; some floors have attached underlay and prohibit an extra layer.

FROM ESTIMATE TO ACTION

Use the result, not just the number.

01

Verify the inputs

Measure or document each input. If a value is only an estimate, record its source and test a conservative alternative.

02

Keep the calculation traceable

Save the input link or copied result together with the date, units and assumptions. A number without its inputs cannot be checked later.

03

Confirm the decision

Compare the estimate with the related guide, current product data and requirements that apply at your location before buying or building.
