Laser distance meter

Measure rooms, heights and diagonals quickly while knowing when a tape or target plate is more reliable.

A laser distance meter calculates distance from reflected light. It speeds up room surveys, floor and wall quantities, ceiling heights and diagonal checks. Accuracy depends on the reference edge, target surface, alignment and visibility; it does not replace a physical tape for every short edge or obstruction.

A REPEATABLE METHOD

How to use it

  1. Choose the front or rear reference edge and confirm the symbol before every series.
  2. Place the meter firmly against a stable surface and aim at a flat target, not an edge or opening.
  3. Keep the beam square to the target for width and height measurements.
  4. Take at least two readings and record the dimension with its location, not as an unlabeled number.
  5. Use a diagonal or independent tape check before ordering expensive material.

INTERPRET THE MEASUREMENT

How to read the result

  • The displayed distance is from the selected reference edge to the laser target.
  • Area and volume modes multiply measured dimensions; they do not correct a room that is out of square.
  • Indirect height modes amplify angle and alignment errors and are planning estimates, not survey data.

  • Verify stated accuracy over the distances you actually use and whether calibration can be checked.
