Home water test kit

Use strips, drop tests and electronic meters for screening without confusing dissolved solids with safety.

Home tests can screen pH, hardness, disinfectant and conductivity, and help track changes before and after treatment. They cannot prove that water is microbiologically safe or identify every chemical contaminant. A certified laboratory is required for health decisions, new wells and unexplained changes in taste, odor or color.

A REPEATABLE METHOD

How to use it

  1. Choose tests for a specific question and check the range, expiry date and storage condition.
  2. Flush or disinfect the sampling point as required by the method and use a clean container.
  3. Follow the stated sample volume, contact time, temperature and color-reading window exactly.
  4. Run a blank, duplicate or known reference when the decision matters, and write down units.
  5. Confirm unexpected or health-relevant results through an accredited laboratory before changing treatment.

How to read the result

  • TDS or conductivity indicates dissolved ions; a low number does not prove that water is safe.
  • Hardness tests guide softener settings but do not measure iron, bacteria or organic contamination.
  • Color strips are approximate and can be affected by lighting, timing, disinfectant and sample color.
